KHTP aims to get six more MNCs

By TUNKU SHAHARIAH in Kulim

KULIM Technology Park Corp Bhd (KTPC), the operator of Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), expects to attract six more multinational companies (MNCs) to set up base at the park by December this year.

Group chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Shukri Tajuddin said currently the park boasts 33 manufacturing and service companies, including Intel, Siltera, Fuji Electric (M) Sdn Bhd, Entegris (M) Sdn Bhd and Toyo Memory Technology, with capital investments totalling RM12bil.

“We were aggressively following up on the proposals by the local MNCs, which are related to the wafer fabrication industry, to set up their facilities in the park by the year end,” he told reporters at the soft-launch of KTPCs Kulim Perdana third home series, Garcinia, at the project site on Saturday.

Shukri said the Garcinia, which comprised 90 freehold double-storey terrace houses, was launched following the success of the Azalia, Acasia, Hacienda and Camelia versions of its Kulim Perdana home series.

The soft-launch also saw the signing of sales and purchase agreements between KTPC and 10 house buyers of the 70% completed Garcinia series, costing RM147,000 each.

In his speech, Shukri said once KHTP achieved comprehensive township status, property investors could expect substantial appreciation in the value of the homes.

He also said KHTP expected to build a total of 17,000 homes in the 485ha area earmarked for residential development within a 10-year period.
